Project overview
This project involved a comprehensive redesign of the Buy with Prime tax setup flow to address significant usability challenges identified through merchant feedback. Initially, merchants faced difficulties in navigating the tax settings interface, which led to uncertainty and errors in configuring their tax settings. The primary issues included a complex user interface that obscured the merchants' position within the setup process, content that lacked clarity and failed to convey the purpose and implications of the tax settings, and an absence of confirmation checks for tax rates. This lack of intuitive guidance and affirmation resulted in low confidence among merchants regarding the accuracy of their tax configurations.
The solution
To rectify these issues, the redesign focused on simplifying the user interface, enhancing the clarity of the content, and implementing confirmation mechanisms for tax rate selections. The new design streamlines the process into distinct, manageable steps with clear instructions, ensuring that merchants always know where they are and what actions they need to take next. These improvements aim to empower merchants to self-service their tax settings effectively, reducing the need for external support and increasing the adoption rate of the Buy with Prime service. The redesigned flow not only eases the tax setup process but also aligns with the merchants' need for accuracy, efficiency, and autonomy in managing their online sales operations.
My role
I spearheaded the revamp of the content strategy, focusing on clarity and guidance to address the identified usability issues. I audited the existing interface, and rewrote the UI copy to make it more intuitive and instructive. My efforts were centered around simplifying complex tax information, creating clear actionable steps. Working closely with the UX designer, legal and regulatory team and product manager, I ensured that the language used resonated with the visual design and functional flow, enhancing overall user comprehension and confidence. Through iterative user testing and refinements, I contributed to a more accessible and self-service tax setup experience, significantly reducing merchants' dependency on support and thereby increasing the adoption of Buy with Prime.
